Wildfires are increasing in number and severity. This article looks at causes and consequences, and the link to climate change.

Summer 2023 saw reports of wildfires burning out of control in many parts of the world.

In Hawaii and California fires wreaked devastation and caused loss of life. In Europe, Greece and Portugal suffered badly, with hundreds of holidaymakers evacuated in the height of the tourist season. It seemed that everywhere you looked, the world was on fire.
