The July 2022 heatwave

On 19 July 2022 a temperature of 40.3°C was recorded at Coningsby in Lincolnshire, the highest ever reached in the UK. Scientists said that this was a result of global warming due to climate change and that the UK can expect to experience even higher temperatures in the future.
