As the city of Cambridge continues to grow, the council is under pressure to improve the transport infrastructure of the city. With an estimated 44,000 new homes due to be built by 2031, what can be done to ensure that the growing population can move around the city in a quick, efficient, and sustainable way? The Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) is hoping that a new guided busway might be the answer.
A guided busway is a set of concrete tracks that is specifically for buses and avoids traffic on main roads. They then connect to the normal roads so buses can use them as part of a longer journey. Several guided busways already exist in the UK.
