Alaska is the largest state in the USA. It is so large that it is bigger than all but 18 countries in the world. It is located in North America and the north of the state stretches into the Arctic Circle. Alaska was originally part of Russia and was bought by the USA in 1867, before its natural resources such as oil and gold were discovered.
