National Parks get bigger

On 1 August 2016 the Yorkshire Dales National Park was extended by almost a quarter and the Lake District National Park by 3%.The extension brings the two parks within touching distance. As well as providing a boost to tourism and the local economy in these rural areas National Park status will protect them from overdevelopment
