Cherkley Court

C herkley Court is a Grade II listed mansion built in the French chateau style, located in Leatherhead, which is part of the Mole Valley in Surrey (Figure 1). The house was built in 1894 and the estate consists of over 150 hectares of land. It lies within the green belt.

Despite local opposition, a company called Longshot has been given permission to convert the house into a ‘world class five-star hotel offering the highest quality dining, a health club and spa, as well as a cookery school’. The developers also wish to change the surrounding grounds into an exclusive 18-hole golf course occupying 100 hectares of the grounds.
