The eye of the storm

Learn to track tropical storms with this Wideworldweb

T yphoons, hurricanes, cyclones. Different names but they all mean one thing: tropical storms are on the way. The natural hazard that affects millions of people every summer and autumn has been plotted and mapped by weather forecasters around the planet. Reliable predictions mean preparations can be put in place to reduce injury and death.

Look at the website www.weather.com/weather/hurricanecentral/tracker. If there are any active hurricanes present in the Atlantic Ocean that are due to affect North or Central America, their tracks will be shown on this US weather forecasting website. You can zoom in and out using the + and – buttons and select the clearest map style from the three options.
