T he photograph in Figure 1 shows a coastline in which you, as a geographer, should recognise several features. The most obvious are the coastal stacks, which have led to this beautiful stretch of coastline in Victoria, Australia being called the ‘Twelve Apostles’. Now look at Figure 2 and spot the difference. In July 2005, one of the stacks collapsed. In fact, there are now only seven Apostles.
