There is less than a year to go before the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games. In the east end of London the Olympic Park is almost complete.
The photograph, taken in July 2011, clearly shows the oval of the Olympic Stadium. To its left is the aquatics centre with its distinctive curved roof and the water polo venue. Between there and the stadium, the red ArcelorMittal Orbit sculpture is being built. At 115 m, this will be the UK’s largest piece of public art.
