Starting any new course, especially in a subject that is unfamiliar to you, can be a daunting experience. Many students begin sociology at A-level with little or no experience of the subject. Sociology attempts to explain patterns of human behaviour. It involves the study of individuals in their environment at every level. At the micro level it studies human action, interaction and reaction in any situation. The macro level involves studying society and its social institutions and how they shape individuals.
