In any question which uses the words ‘assess’, ‘evaluate’, ‘discuss’ or ‘to what extent…’ you will be expected to show AO3 skills, often called criticism or evaluation. This is considered to be a difficult skill, and is one which students often find tricky.
Below is an exam-style question that has been answered with a great introduction and first paragraph of knowledge. But how should the student now move on to evaluation? We show you four alternative ways in which the student could proceed onto their evaluative paragraph to pick up AO3 marks. All four evaluation paragraphs are very good.
