Frequently — especially in one of the higher-mark essay questions in an exam — you will be expected to discuss, and often evaluate, a particular sociological theory or perspective. This will often be in the context of a specific topic or issue, such as deviance, the role of the media, the extent of secularisation, etc.
The more practice you get at doing this, the more likely you are to achieve good marks. Here is an exercise to get you started.
