The question that follows is in the style of the research methods component of an AQA question for AS paper 2. For paper 2 you have a total of 60 marks in an exam lasting 1 hour 30 minutes. The optional topic is marked out of 40, which means there are 20 marks for the research methods questions. You should spend about half an hour on this part of the paper.
The first research methods question may ask you to outline two problems, advantages or reasons. Since you are only asked to ‘outline’ you don’t need great depth and it is relatively easy to pick up the 4 marks. You need to do a little more than state the reasons, but you don’t need an extended discussion. Two or three sentences identifying the point and then briefly explaining it should be more than enough if they are to the point.
