The exams are approaching and the demands of revision increasing dramatically. Sociology playing cards could aid your revision. These cards are based on the same playing cards that everyone is familiar with. You will be able to play card games such as Solitaire on your own, or have fun playing any card game you choose with friends and family and revise while you play. The basic principle is that rather than having spades, clubs, diamonds and hearts, instead the suits are research methods: questionnaires, interviews, observation and experiments. The high numbers in the pack represent the advantages of each method, and the low numbers represent the disadvantages. The playing cards can also be used as straightforward ‘flash cards’.
When you have found out how useful this method of revision is, you can make your own playing cards for different topics — for example, you could make a ‘Sociological perspectives’ pack or a ‘Sociological approaches to crime and deviance’ pack.
