I set my AS students a test recently and gave them a question to answer from a past paper. I also gave them the amount of time that they might expect to have when they sit down to write such an answer in the actual examination. They were all surprised at how little time they had and how much material they thought they needed to write in that amount of time. Their responses ranged from philosophical to outraged — but in the real thing you really do only have 75 minutes to gain 90 marks.
