Elves are said to be supernatural beings that use their magical powers both to help and to hinder humanity, from causing afflictions such as hiccups to throwing small missiles at innocent passers-by. Elves come in many shapes and sizes, from creatures little bigger than insects, to beautiful women and little old men. Many people claim to have seen them and been victims of their strange magic.
Elves are said to come into this world from their own country of Elfland, where they are ruled by a mysterious queen. They live inside small hills or mounds of stones and can use their magic to tease and torment those who come nearby.
