Edexcel: 6RS01: New Testament options

Frederick Bruner, theologian and author, observed that John the Baptist appears at the beginning of the New Testament four times — once in each of the four Gospels — in order to make the law of God clear to the reader four times before Jesus himself appears with the Gospel of salvation and redemption. While John is the law of God in person, Jesus is the Gospel of God in person. Frederick Bruner observes in The Gospel of John: A Commentary (2011):
