Rastafarianism

Jon Mayled looks at Rastafarianism in relation to religion.

While no-one would claim that Christianity or Islam are not religions, for other faiths the issue is less clear-cut. Rastafarianism is an example: is it a religion or a way of life?

In order to answer this question we have to pose another: ‘What is religion?’ The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) gives several definitions of religion, but the three most appropriate seem to be these:
