In the AS and A-level exams for Edexcel there are a range of questions where you have to combine description (AO1) and evaluation (AO3) skills. We refer to these as ‘essays’. Some essays also involve application (AO2) but this article will focus on the AO1 + AO3 essays and also just on the shorter tariff ones.
