1 In this article, Richard Gross looks at ways to assess Theory of Mind (ToM) using animated rather than still pictures. He starts by comparing two previous tests of ToM based on still pictures: the Sally-Anne test (assesses understanding of false beliefs) and the socalled ‘eyes-task’ (participants choose one of two words that best describes a person’s emotional state, based on eyes alone).
