A WEEK IN THE LIFE

A student mental health champion

Postgraduate psychology student Laura Gilbert describes a week in her life as a university mental health champion

My experience as a psychology student at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is fascinating, inspiring and exciting. I love studying a subject which I am so passionate about and I look forward to learning something new every day.

When I was younger, I always wanted to work with animals, so I did a diploma in animal management. However, I was torn with what university degree to choose, as I had an interest in both animals and human psychology. I decided to do a batchelor’s degree in animal behaviour and psychology at the University of Chester, but the more I learned about psychology, the more my passion grew for the subject.
