Assessment Objective 2 (AO2) is defined as follows: ‘applying knowledge and understanding of scientific ideas, processes, techniques and procedures: in a theoretical or practical context when handling qualitative or quantitative data’.

AO2 is worth 30 –35% of the total marks at AS and A-level. Therefore, the ability to apply psychological knowledge effectively, often to novel scenarios, is essential to success in AS/A-level psychology.
