Exam stress and anxiety

The stress and anxiety associated with important exams can be distressing. But there are straightforward steps that can be taken by students and staff to reduce the stress and anxiety associated with exams.

People often use the terms ‘stress’ and ‘anxiety’ interchangeably. Stress results from an uneven balance between demands that are made on us (or the pressures we are under) and the options or resources we perceive we have available to respond to those demands/pressures (Lazarus and Folkman 1984).
