Fast-food selection

Schmidtke and colleagues (2019) conducted a nice little study to illustrate how a bit of psychology can nudge people towards ‘better’ behaviour.

We know that shops put certain products by the till to encourage shoppers to add them to their basket while waiting to pay. It’s a kind of nudge by making the items more visible. Schmidtke et al. tried something similar in a well-known fast-food outlet.
