Debates over the alleged health risks and therapeutic benefits of cannabis are highly charged. One current study suggests that the existence of such contradictory evidence is at least partly due to the differing effects of different cannabis strains. Wall et al. (2019) recruited 17 light cannabis users and subjected them to three conditions:

1 In the ‘skunk’ condition, they smoked cannabis that was heavy in THC (a chemical that produces a cannabis high and anxiety), but very low in CBD (a chemical associated with anxiety reduction).
