When looking for a partner, both men and women value a good sense of humour. However, recent studies have shown that men are not attracted to funny women, suggesting that the phrase ‘good sense of humour’ is used differently by the sexes.
A recent study by Hone (2015) found that men prefer women who laugh at their jokes, whereas women prefer men who produce humour. Therefore it seems that females value humour production whereas men value humour appreciation.
