Don Meichenbaum

Don Meichenbaum was one of the founders of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and discusses its evolution here

Don Meichenbaum

Over the last 45 years, Dr Meichenbaum has written several books about post-traumatic stress, inner dialogues, and most recently the educational potential of children (with fellow psychologist Dr Andrew Biemiller). He is the founder of stress inoculation therapy (SIT), which aims to develop resilience in preparing for future episodes of stress. He also helped to open The Melissa Institute in Miami, Florida, a think-tank for preventing violence in schools. The institute is named for a victim of violence in the local community. Don Meichenbaum discusses the development of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) over his illustrious 45-year career.

Interviewer I am pleased to have an opportunity to discuss how cognitive behaviour therapy has evolved with one of its founders.
