Susie Orbach

Susie Orbach is a psychoanalyst and writer. Her books include the classic Fat is a Feminist Issue, as well as Hunger Strike, Bodies and The Impossibility of Sex. She is a consultant to the government on matters related to eating problems, and was a founder of Psychotherapists and Counsellors for Social Responsibility and The Women’s Therapy Centre.

Cara Flanagan met Susie Orbach in her consulting room, which looks over the back garden of Sigmund Freud’s Hampstead home, where he came before the Second World War and lived for the last year of his life.
