I chose to do my extended project qualification partly due to being nervous about my grades, as many students are at the end of Year 12. I had hoped to attend Bangor University to do a psychology degree, but this seemed unlikely with two Bs and two Cs at AS. I had been told about a former student who had gone to Bangor University — her EPQ had apparently helped her to gain a place. This gave me great incentive as it would set me apart from the crowd and would also be a good topic for my personal statement.
Once I had decided to do the EPQ I had many wild and wonderful ideas about what to do it on, including the history of aviation, the role of the Royal Air Force in the Second World War or something to do with psychology. I eventually realised that I should really do something that would relate to my degree and so I started to look at areas of psychology that I really enjoyed.
