I have been repeatedly asked over the years: ‘What is the best way to revise?’ With the help of my psychology students I recently decided to investigate.
I asked 80 AS and A2 psychology students if they believed they knew how to revise effectively. Of my sample, 70% felt that they knew how to revise effectively and were confident that their chosen revision techniques prepared them for exam success. Of the remaining 30%, 10% felt they were unable to revise effectively and the remaining 20% felt that they were unsure whether their revision techniques were effective. They felt uncertain whether the methods they had used to prepare for their GCSEs would prepare them for the volume of material required for their AS exams.
