I JUST CAN’T HANDLE IT!
Have you ever seen a gorgeous baby animal (or human) and found it so cute that you want to give it a good hard squeeze?
This phenomenon has been coined ‘cute aggression’ and was studied by Oriana Aragon and Rebecca Dyer (students at Yale University). They asked 109 people to look at pictures of puppies, some cute, some funny and some neutral (although quite how a puppy can be neutral is hard to see). The participants had to rate their response to each picture by stating whether they agreed with statements such as ‘I just can’t handle it!’
