I studied at Keele University. Years later I returned for a visit. When I arrived on campus, memories from my time there started re-emerging. They were memories I had not retrieved in a long time. The effect was so strong that I had trouble withdrawing money from the campus ATM. I could not remember my PIN and in my first try I entered the PIN I used when I lived on campus years earlier. Where did those memories come from? The most likely culprit is environmental context (EC).
