Before sitting their exams, most students are wise to the fact that the specification dictates what has to be learned. Many also realise that the specification is a good source for working out what possible questions can be asked. The obvious strategy, then, is to make sure that you know how to answer all these possible questions in an effective way. Not only is this sensible, it also brings a sense of confidence that all eventualities can be effectively managed in the examination.

There is one aspect that students sometimes fail to consider: two apparently identical questions have very different requirements if the marks available for them are different.
