Remember to operationalise your hypotheses. The following are examples of operationalised hypotheses: ‘Parents watch more hours of television than teenagers.’ ‘Memory was related to whether the participants were old (60–80 years) or young (18–35 years)’

Over many years of looking at answers to AS exam papers, I have observed certain factors that cause students to lose marks in their exam answers. Here is my guide to the things that most often cost students valuable marks.

When you are describing a study it is important to structure your answer. Most candidates are aware that they should not simply describe the procedures of a study. Instead, follow the APRC rule — provide details of Aims, Procedures, Results and Conclusions. This demonstrates the breadth of your knowledge.
