Lucy writes: I have worked in adult mental health for over 25 years. In all this time, I have never paid any attention to patients’ diagnoses, or used them as a basis for my work. I do not believe in categories like ‘schizophrenia’ or ‘bipolar disorder’ and never have done. Many clinical psychologists would say the same.
