Time to abandon psychiatric diagnosis?

An idea for Facebook

Eric Isselée/Fotolia

Should Facebook and other social media profile pages ask what time you usually fall asleep and what time you wake up? I think the answer is ‘yes’. If you find out when someone falls asleep and when they wake up, you will be able to determine their chronotype — whether they tend to be ‘morning’ or ‘evening’ people. You will also find out their somnotype — whether they are short sleepers (5½ hours or less) or long sleepers (9½ hours or more).

Knowing this information will enable you to make a guess as to what their personality characteristics are, how they may be getting on in life generally, and even whether or not you want to know them.
