Minding religion

Studies have been conducted into the correlation between religious belief and mental wellbeing

Numerous research studies suggest that there is a correlation between being religious and enjoying better mental health. Oliver James, in a recent (2012) Guardian column, offered some possible explanations.

Social support networks. At least parts of religious worship are social, communal activities so they offer good, positive, social safety-nets and sharing experiences. Studies also show that friendship is a significant contributor to personal happiness.
