Naomi Jefferies’ article outlines a range of different sources of workplace stress, and goes on to describe the negative effects of workplace stress on a person’s physical and psychological health and wellbeing. The costs of workplace stress are clearly not only economic (£28 billion per year in the UK alone according to NICE, 2009) but also personal, affecting a person’s everyday psychological functioning, family relationships and wider social friendships.
