‘Abnormal’ is a powerful word. When we call something abnormal we are implying that it needs to be changed. For this reason we need to be very careful how we use it. This can be a problem. Whilst most people are fairly sure they can tell abnormal from normal people or behaviour, it is actually very difficult to explain the precise difference. (Curtis 2012)
