I know how to run. I’ve watched races and running seems to be similar to walking but quicker. So why wasn’t I selected to participate in the London 2012 Olympics? Well, just because I have knowledge about something doesn’t mean I can demonstrate the skill. The purpose of this article is to equip you, not with knowledge about PY1 content, but awareness of the skills you need in order to handle that content for successful performance in the exam.

The skills in the PY1 exam questions vary, but fall broadly into two categories: AO1 and AO2. AO1 is where you have to show all your ‘knowledge and understanding’ about psychology. AO2 is where you can show off your ‘analysis, commentary and evaluation’ skills.
