Alan Baddeley’s article describes a range of different case study material to help us understand amnesia and how our memory works. He shows us how the real-life experiences of amnesics may be quite different from Hollywood film versions of the condition.
Hopefully, you will see that there are many different types of amnesia – each with different features and characteristics. You do not need to know all of these terms for your A-level psychology exam. However, studying amnesia may help you to better understand the models of memory you have studied in class (i.e. the multistore model of memory and Baddeley’s original working memory model).
