This effectively ended the contest for the Democratic presidential nominee earlier than expected. What have we learnt from the campaign, and what does it suggest for the future?
Caucuses, already under attack for being too complicated and unrepresentative, have been further discredited by the mishandling of the counting process in Iowa during the 2020 caucuses. A problem in collecting the results on caucus night was initially attributed to the failure of an app, but prompted the exposure of disorganisation on all levels of the counting process.
