Eco-feminism, as the term suggests, is a strand of ecologism that has a uniquely female focus. Unlike liberal feminists, who seek equality with men (i.e. gender neutral), eco-feminists seek the liberation of women as women with equal status, highlighting solely female attributes.
Traditional female values and roles such as childbirth, breastfeeding, nurturing and managing the domestic arena are central to this strand of the ideology. Feminism meets ecologism by promoting the view that women and nature are inextricably intertwined — aform of deep ecologism, with the world as an interdependent ecosystem.
