On 23 June 2016, the Supreme Court doomed Obama’s legacy on immigration reform in just nine words: ‘The judgment is affirmed by an equally divided court.’ These nine words allowed for the blocking of Obama’s executive actions which would have granted up to 5 million undocumented immigrants freedom from deportation.
