How to succeed at AS

Success in A-level examinations is all about good preparation and sticking to some golden rules in the examination room. Hopefully you have developed a strong interest in the subject and are keeping up to date with the news and developments in UK politics. This will help to ensure that you develop a body of knowledge and bank of examples to use throughout your course and in the examination.

You should be aware that Unit 1 and Unit 2 each contain four themes/topics. These are listed in Box 1. In the exam you will need to select two of these themes for each unit, and be prepared to answer a mixture of questions ranging from ‘explain the term’, ‘using your own knowledge and the extract’, to essaystyle answers.
