Politics at Nottingham University

Why study politics at Nottingham? The School of Politics and International Relations is one of the biggest and the best in the UK. We have some 60 academic members of staff spread across three campuses in two continents, with interests covering the full range of the discipline. The profile of our staff is youthful, international and diverse (in terms of gender, interests and approaches) and their acknowledged expertise is such that many are to be found regularly commenting in the national and international media on current events. The school is one of the very best in the UK in research terms (alongside Cambridge and Manchester in the last national review) and popular with its students, whose voice we take very seriously indeed.

The award-winning student-run Politics Society is one of the most active in the university, running debates, trips and a variety of sporting activities. The school has its own popular blog, Ballots and Bullets, which is consulted by journalists and a variety of practitioners across the world: the best of our students’ work is published on the blog, giving them a unique platform.
