When people first think of studying politics they probably have in mind what we might call the ‘machinery of government’ — and if they live in the UK this probably brings to mind political parties, election campaigns, voting, Parliament, the prime minister and cabinet, policy making etc. And of course all of this is part of what would be studied in any politics programmes, but studying politics as an undergraduate at the University of Manchester is much broader than this, and much more flexible.
At Manchester, we approach politics through three substantive themes which we label comparative politics, international politics and political theory.
