Democracy takes many forms, and in the words of Bernard Crick, ‘is, perhaps, the most promiscuous word in the world of public affairs’.

Majoritarian democracy is the idea of majority rule, that is the belief that the power to make decisions in a society should lie with ‘the people’ and that such decisions should be made on the basis of popular support.
