This article focuses on how to write good essays in order to achieve the higher grades at A2 in Unit 3A, The Politics of the USA. Essays demonstrate to the examiner what you know, what you understand and what you can do. They are tests of your ability to write well under the pressure of time constraints and are the culmination of months of serious study, essay practice, wide reading and a focused programme of revision. In an essay you must put down on paper what you know in a structured and coherent way to convince the examiner of your knowledge and skills.
It is unlikely that you would achieve high marks for your essays if you had done no preparation and had little knowledge or understanding of the four specification topics, especially when they are all linked in some way.
