Professor Lucie Green is a space scientist and solar physicist at the Mullard Space Science Laboratory, University College London.
Her passion for space science, particularly the Sun, grew from her love of physics at school. However, after A-levels she initially pursed her other love, art, in a 1-year foundation degree. Realising that this was not for her, she went on to study physics with astrophysics at the University of Sussex. During this time she had the opportunity to observe at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in Ukraine. Although she was there to observe binary systems (two stars orbiting each other), the observatory also had solar telescopes.
